What Tab2Prompt accesses
Tab2Prompt reads the selected content, title, and URL of the active tab only after you choose a conversion mode, acknowledge the in-extension notice, and select Capture prompt.
Why it accesses that content
The extension uses the selected page data only to create the Markdown prompt you requested. The source title, URL, and converted content are shown in the generated prompt so you can review them before copying.
Where processing happens
Conversion and prompt generation happen locally in your browser. Tab2Prompt sends the generated prompt, including page content and URL, to an AI provider only after you explicitly choose that provider. Otherwise the content remains on your device.
What Tab2Prompt does not use
Tab2Prompt does not use analytics, advertising, an account system, cloud sync, or a backend that receives your page content. It does not retain converted content after the popup is closed.
Copying a generated prompt
Choosing Copy prompt copies the generated prompt to your device clipboard. Tab2Prompt does not paste it into another website. If you later paste it into an AI service, that service’s own privacy policy applies.
